THE COURT

courtHello. My name is Todd Dobben, and I am the owner and caretaker of the court used in the Masters of Grass Tournament. This court was started in April of 2005. The first step was a mower. My wife Meghan said, “Are you sure you know what you are doing?”. I did not have a clue what was happening or what I did to the nice back yard. To do a project like this you have to have help. I got help and still get help from a number of people.

Mark Frever helped a ton. He helped with the irrigation, disease control and most of all the seed. Dave Lassanske and Horia Neagos, two of the four Masters, helped with the fence construction.

Scott Smith is the fertilizer expert. This year Scott helped us take care of the red thread.

My Mother and Father have been very supportive.

IMG_1990It was my vision to have a cool tournament in the summer and that this would be a great event that people would enjoy. So, we came up with a name and designed it as a singles tournament with some doubles action in the middle of it.

Grass tennis is a ton of fun and unfortunately is harder and harder to find. Whether you are playing or just watching grass tennis, you are enjoying the very history of the sport of tennis.

We hope to see you out at the courts at our next tournament which will take place throughout the week of August 5th with the finals culminating that weekend.

Sincerely,

Todd Dobben
